2007 Western Regional I-I Tournaments
March 2-4 at Santa Barbara Polo Club was the ’07 Interscholastic Western Regional Polo Tournament. Six teams participated. Eldorado, Lakeside, Nor Cal, Poway, Santa Barbara and Tacoma. Two games were played on Friday, Nor Cal defeating Lakeside and Poway defeating Tacoma. Then the kids played full field Foot Mallet Polo while the Eldorado ’06 Defending Western Regional Champion team prepared to host a welcome BBQ for all the players, families and friends. This was a good way for old friends to reconnect and new players to meet the group. Eldorado did a great job as hosts.
Saturday was three games – Tacoma defeated Lakeside in the consolidation game. In the semi finals Santa Barbara and Nor Cal played a very tight game with Santa Barbara emerging as the victor. Poway played Eldorado in the other semi final game, but did not have much luck against the defending Champions.
After the games, everyone meet at Santa Barbara City College for the Banquet where teams again mingled, recieved their PTF/USPA T Shirts, had team and group photo’s taken and discussed either what to do in the final game or what they could have done to make it to the finals. Lots of networking took place.
Sunday pitted Santa Barbara vs. Eldorado in a game that had some spectaular plays, too many fouls and Eldorado emerged again as the ’07 Interscholastic Western Regional Champions. They will travel to Brushy Creek Texas for the Interscholastic National Championship games.
Final Score Eldorado 15, Santa Barbara 8.
All Players voted on Sportsmanship and All Star Players plus all horses are scored by the riders each chukker and the horse with the most points is the Best Playing Pony.

2007 Western Regional Sportsmanship awarded to Hollie Boggess of Lakeside. Hollie is a brand new player who has fallen in love with Polo.

Many thanks to all those that brought horses and help make the tournament run smooth. John Westley, Lynn Thompson, Wilbur O’Ferrell, all the coach’s, parents and family/friends is what makes this a worthwhile event.

This week b>March 9-10-11 will be the ’07 Intercollegiate Western Regional Tournament again hosted at Santa Barbara Polo Club. This will be both Women and Men Tournaments. There are five Women Teams entered, Cal Poly, Santa Barbara Community College, USC, Stanford, UC Davis. Men: Cal Poly, Westmont, USC, Stanford, UC Davis.
There will be three games both Friday and Saturday start at 9 AM and the Finals of the Men and Women tournaments on Sunday also at 9 AM.
