Our first 20 goal tournament at the SBPRC will be the Mayor’s Cup.  Only 2 teams are participating as we still have some players who haven’t arrived in Santa Barbara yet, so it will be Audi vs. Piocho in the finals at 3:00.  Margerum Winery is doing a wine tasting in the VIP tent and all of our cabanas are booked.  We expect a great crowd and some great polo this weekend so if you are in the Santa Barbara area make sure you stop by.  Next weekend will be the Bill Triller Memorial Tournament to honor our former field & facilities manager who passed away this year.  We will also be hosting “Swankkytime” a social event complete with DJ, dancing, and great polo.  Check out their website at http://sexxytime.com/swankkytime.html

The SBPRC has been a busy place the past few weeks.  There is a constant parade of ponies on the exercise track and the stick and ball field is getting a lot of use as players prepare their mounts for a competitive season of polo.  The average player at the club this year has 11 horses, with 4 players on a team and 6 teams stabling at the club this year, it makes a bit of a tight squeeze.

On a side note… If you haven’t seen the video for Britney Spears’ song Radar, I suggest you click here.  The video was filmed at Pat Nesbitt’s Bella Vista ranch and features polo players Mariano Gutierrez, Santiago Wulff, TJ Barrack, Jason Crowder and Parker Flannery.  This is great for the sport of polo!

Ran into Lucchese’s Mike Azzaro this morning, he is excited for the season to start and mentioned that he thought the polo would be much more competitive this year.  Last year there were only 3-4 teams with solid lineups, this year, nearly every team is a contender.  Accoding to Mike, that “will make it even sweeter to win it all.”
