This summer’s matches have been some of the most exciting in the sport of polo, as the East End’s most high-profile and influential audience of VIPs, celebrities and media watched the sport’s greatest athletes compete for one of polo’s most treasured prizes. This season’s final match was one of the sport’s most anticipated events.
The season commenced on Saturday, July 18th and continued for six consecutive Saturdays, ending this Saturday, August 22nd. Black Watch competed against White Birch on Saturday, August 22, 2009.White Birch defeated Black Watch 11- 8

Fashion and music mogul Russell Simmons arrived with his entourage in tow at the final week of the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge at Blue Star Jets Field. Also in attendance were CBS News reporter Serena Altschul and Real Housewives of New York City’s Ramona Singer, who was overheard saying that no one could recognize her due to the new haircut she was sporting and Bethenny Frankel, who is set star in her own reality television series.
