The Harry Winston polo team triumphed, led by Nacho Figueras, at the USPA Royal Salute Jubilee Cup on Sunday narrowly defeating Heathcote Polo team, 11 – 10 in a thrilling and closely fought 20 goal match.
Hosted by His Grace the Duke of Argyll and Peter Brant, the match drew the biggest crowd of the year at Greenwich Polo Club on Sunday 2nd September 2012.
His Grace the Duke of Argyll presented Bash Kazi, patron of Harry Winston team with the inaugural Royal Salute Jubilee Cup, a specially crafted sterling silver and gilt whisky tumbler created by Asprey. The players were treated to a dram of Royal Salute 21 Year Old Scotch whisky while a Scottish piper signaled a salute to the sportsmanship of the players and their horses, as VIPs raised their own drams of Royal Salute 21 Year Old Scotch whisky to join in the ceremony.
Over 300 local, national and international VIP guests watched the event from the Royal Salute VIP boxes in the award-winning grandstand at Greenwich Polo Club. The Most Valuable Player prize of a bespoke Scottish cashmere blazer, presented by David Mason for Anthony Sinclair, Bond’s original tailor, was awarded to Steve Lefkowitz of Heathcote Polo team.
