I hope you all had a good weekend of polo! Please read becuase this new law applies to anyone that either owns income property or rents.

The carbon monoxide poisoning prevention act requires carbon monoxide detectors to be installed in every dwelling unit intended for human occupancy.

This is required in all dwellings that have fossil fuel burning heater, appliance, fireplace or attached garage. These must have been installed by July 1 2011 for existing single family dwellings and all other dwellings untis before Jan. 1 2013.

At minimum a CO alarm should be centrally located outside of each seperate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms. The alarm shoud be located at least 6 inches from all exterior walls and at least 3 feet from supply or return vents.
