As this season draws to a conculusion at Eldorado Polo Club there are a lot of questions being asked. What and where will polo be for next year? Here are a few of the questions . . .
Will Eldorado Polo Club be here next winter? Probably. The big money is said to be gone for a while.
Will they fix up Eldorado PC? I really do not know. Most say no. It has gone anyway down the road.
What will La Quinta Polo Club do? They may get bigger, but thats going to be a race to get done for ’08.
Are Empire PC’s fields being dropped by Eldorado ? I have heard both answers, so we do not know.
If Empire does go seperate from Eldorado can it be fixed? Yes it can and it could be the mecca for polo very quickly without much delay I think.
TALK OF OUTSIDE HIGH GOAL? Is it true? Yes, we need a venue for good polo with a up scale venue. If the high goal patrons spend the money they need a nice place to play and a better environment. May happen here at Empire Polo Club in Indio (right next to Eldorado).
WHAT CAN THE PLAYERS DO? Speak out! If you enjoy the current situation say so. If not, say so. If you are ok with todays edition of polo it is proably best to just stay at Eldorado and make it the capital of 2- to 4- goal/ 4 chukker polo. Make La Quinta Polo Club (http://www.laquintapolo.com) and Empire PC 6 chukker Polo from 8- to 16-goal. Make the Clubs really nice and turn them into a zone for the future of Polo.
Other ideas: Purchase land and use it as a permanent home for polo with a tax break. By making it a non-profit a new club would able to accept hundreds of thousands of dollars which are currently sent to the PTF which builds zip and returns zip. Maybe its as close as 53rd and Monroe. Buy land from Monroe St. to Dan Horn’s and make a deal to make it the Polo Center of California. The new organization could work with D. Horn and it could become Palm Desert Polo Club, home of the WEST COAST POLO WORLD. THE LAND BOUGHT WILL FOREVER BE FOR POLO AND WE HAVE A HOME FOR THE SPORT LIKE SANTA BARBARA.
