On Oct. 17th, ’06 the XXIV Junior Open Championship will begin in Argentina
On Tuesday 10/17, the XXIV Argentine Junior Open Championship, with the direct elimination system, will begin on the APA Fields in Pilar, with the participation of eight teams (between 15 and 22 goals) formed by players up to 21 years old. In line with ideas that the APA had in mind when establishing this tournament in 1983, these young players are their way to national and international recognition. All these players guarantee games full of action with a high technical level in the 2006 championship.
The creation of the Argentine Junior Open Championship was a wise decision of APA Managers to establish this tournament. Young players, who had finished high school and had participated in the interschool tournament for the Santa Paula Cup, are able to continue playing intermediate tournaments before participating in high handicap and medium handicap tournaments.
Tournaments like the Santa Paula Cup and the Argentine Junior Open allow our Polo to maintain its prestige as cradle of champions. In few words: the future of Argentine Polo is not in danger.
In the opening date and in the previously mentioned field, the following teams will play for the quarters: Ellerstina (22goals) vs. Coronel Suarez II (15); La Cañada Clos de los Siete (18) vs. Pilarchico (18); Martindale (20) vs. Santa María de Lobos (17); and Coronel Suarez (21) vs. Santa Agueda Cardenal del Monte (16).
The tournament will continue on Thursday 10/19, with the semi-finals that will take place in the same field between the four winner teams of the opening date.
