The Polo Report by Steve Crowder . . .
Tracee Mulvaney Closes the Chicks with Sticks – It was a great weekend of polo for the ladies of the game and as fate would have it the last throw in was captured by Tracee Mulvaney. She flew off to goal and scored and it was all over for 2006. It was well deserved as she puts a lot of effort into making this Ladies Tournament happen and she has put up some awesome prizes. She has some beautiful polo trophys that looked like Bronzes for the champions of both flights. So its a big deal. It was great to see her grab the ball at the final throw in and the 3 good hits and the flag went up.
The games were well organized by Graham Bray and it was not an easy task. One never knows where the women are or will be at times needed, but once on the field its take off the gloves and it was that way today. Polo Connection took on Monteverde with the flying Ellen Greenhill on go, but despite her own and MVP Collen Wilson’s efforts they just could not stay with the rookies who had a little support by Abby Riggs. They never stopped trying and they were well ahead of Norma Owen and Owen Polo, the third place team, but just not enough powder to stop speeding Joy Bancroft and Cam, Julie and Heather’s power in front of Abby. In the A Flight it was also a take no prisoners effort as Jessica Bailey and Jocelyn Parker showed their power and pretty lady Lisa Bosstick enjoyed her second big week in a row as she closed the back door. KK (Kelly Maloney ) and her Pink Panthers just shut ’em down. Oh yes Kelly finally crossed the finish line in ’06 first. She has been runner-up more than she wants to talk about, but this time was her big day on the trophy stand. It was a fun-filled weekend with Kelly Maloney and Tracee Mulvaney putting on an all nighter BBQ and party on Saturday night. It was fun and there were some new faces in tow. It was to see Robin Paicius and her Orange County team runners up in the A flight and Teresa Volmer showed up from Yuma, AZ.
In the B flight it was Chris Carp with Monteverde and Cam Smith and Julie Riggs with the champs and a pair of running and gunning girls with Owen Polo in the form of Tatayana Woolcott and Stephany Serrano. They did run and sometimes anywhere they wanted to go. Maybe next year it will be to goal. If they do, it will be fast I assure you. Speed is not their fear. It was a fun affair and we all thank the ground crew with Joe Strickland and the fun Graham Bray who had the job of putting everyone in place. Ashton Wolf, Billy Ramos and Graham Bray were the officials and they all did a great job. All the Ladies who came to play next year remember you can put your own team in and yell at them. But not Graham as he just does what he can with whats left . Just a thought for the whinners not the winners.
I heard a very good saying today . . .
“AMATEURS WORK HARD TO GET IT RIGHT – PROFESSIONALS WORK SO THEY CANNOT GET IT WRONG ”
