OC Polo defeated Casa Blanca to win the 6-Goal Spreckels Finals. Tritech defeated Hanalei Bay to win the the 14-Goal Finals.

TRI TECH WINS 101ST SPRECKELS CUP @ SAN DIEGO POLO CLUB
Hanalei Bay and Tri Tech each earned their spot in the finals with a 4-1 record, Tri Techs only loss was to Madison Square who was trying to win their third consecutive Speckels Cup, and Hanalei Bays only loss was to Tri Tech in the very first match of the tournament.
It was an overflow crowd for Sundays Spreckels Cup Finals at the San Diego Polo Club. Hanalei Bay got the match off to a fast start with goals from Brandon Phillips and Silvestre Donovan for an early 2-0 lead, but Federico Von Wernich finally scored to get Tri Tech on the scoreboard leaving the score 2-1 after one chukker. In the second chukker Von Wernich tied the score, but later in the chukker Silvestre Donovan put Hanalei Bay back in the lead 3-2 to close out the second chukker.
In the third Gaton Von Wernich scored for Tri Tech to again tie the match, his goal was followed by one from brother Federico giving Tri Tech their first lead in the match, send in at halftime with a 4-3 lead. Federico Von Wernich opened the second half with two quick goals to extend the lead to 6-3, Silvestre Donovan scored for Hanalei Bay but Federico Von Wernich proceeded to score his third and fourth goals of the chukker and giving Tri Tech a commanding 8-4 lead after four chukkers.
In the fifth chukker Hanalei Bay had several runs to goal with near misses before Donovan knocked one in late in the chukker and was followed by one from Brandon Phillips and suddenly the match was back in reach for Hanalei Bay as they trailed by two going to the final chukker. Federico Von Wernich helped Tri Tech breath easier as he scored his eighth goal of the match putting their lead back to three goals., Hanalei kept fighting and Donovan scored his fifth goal of the match late in the sixth chukker making it 9-7 but time was running out on Hanalei Bay and as the final horn sounded Tri Tech began celebrating their Spreckels Cup victory.
Tri Tech got great performances from Alvaro Tadeo, Chris Maloney and Gaston Von Wernich but none surpassed the MVP performance of Federico Von Wernich who scored eight of Tri Techs nine goals. And to make it clean sweep Federico Von Wernich won Best Playing Pony honors for his horse Pico Blanco who he dominated the fourth chukker on and returned to play again in the sixth chukker.
The celebration in the San Diego Polo Players Club went well into the night as players, friends and family enjoyed the season finale before everybody heads their seperate ways until next season.

OC POLO WINS 6 GOAL SPRECKELS CUP
Saturday September 29 the San Diego Polo Club hosted the semi finals of the 4-6 goal Spreckels. The first match had number one seed and last years champs, Marcus and Millichap playing Casa Blanca the number four seed, somebody forgot to tell Casa Blanca who was supposed to win as they upset Macus and Millichap. In the other semi final O C Polo dominated the final chukker to defeat Monte Verde in what had otherwise been a close match.
In the finals on Sunday Casa Blanca started out with a goal on handicap and Carlos Galindo scored twice in the first chukker, Diego Cossio countered with two goals of his own making it 3-2 Casa Blanca after one chukker. In the second chukker Cossio tied the match for OC, then Theo Wakefield gave OC their first lead, that lead was short lived as Carlos Galindo tied it up for Casa Blanca, making it 4-4 at the end of the first half. O C Polo got off to a fast start in the second half as Cossio scored putting them back in front, then Nicolai Galindo scored twice giving O C a three goal lead over his fathers Casa Blanca team. Carlos Galindo scored for Casa Blanca to make it 7-5 after three chukers. In the fourth chukker Diego Cossio added a couple of more goals for OC to clinch the six goal Speckels.
O C Polo received Roenish Bronzes and runner up Casa Blanca received Roenisch Plaques for getting to the finals. Diego Cossio was named the MVP and received a Polo Bag provided by La Martina.

Tomas Obregon won the Willis Allen Award for Best all-around young player, (under 30), judged on Sportsmanship, Horsemanship, and Playing Ability.
Shelley Geiler was awarded the Best Sportsmanship award for female players.
