Fall Series Classic Polo Cup

Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse took on Rose’s Cantina. Talk about fun family entertainment on a Friday
night, this game was loaded with fast and furious polo action coupled with great food and enthusiastic
spectators.

Although the night was cold, the action was hot! The first throw-in yielded a breakaway run with
Heather Schuberth, playing for Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse, galloping towards goal for the first score of
the match. Chris Karp on team Rose’s Cantina, answered the goal by intercepting a loose back shot
from Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse’s Andrew Jasco. Throughout the four chukker match, fans cheered for
their teams as the score stayed within one to two points. Toward the end of the match, Trabuco Oaks
Steakhouse started pulling away as Dave Schuberth and Melissa Blauvelt scored two unanswered goals.
The crisp night air was filled with anticipation as the ball was thrown in for the final chukker. Chris Karp
made a beautiful neck shot out of the lineup which set up another goal for Rose’s Cantina. With only 36
seconds left in the final Chukker, it looked as if Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse was going to edge out the
competition for the Fall Series Classic. However, the ball popped out of the lineup and Eric Munk was in
the right place at the right time, taking the ball to goal and tying up the game at the final buzzer. The
game then moved into sudden death overtime, where the first goal wins the game. Mallets were flying,
horses were running and when the dust settled, Rose’s Cantina’s Chris Karp popped the ball loose and
sent it up to her teammate, Denny Geiler. Making an incredible shot from the 45 yard line, Denny Geiler
scored the winning goal for Rose’s Cantina!

Immediately following the match, both team sponsors were invited to the field to take photographs with
their teams. Denny Geiler, President of OC Polo Club, presented the Fall Series Classic trophy to John
Cox, owner of Rose’s Cantina. Dori Nordeck, owner of Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse, congratulated the
winning team.

Look for more championship polo from The Orange County Polo Club. Regular games take place every
