way. The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

Sunday March 25th, 2012 will go down in History as a Golden Day. Young Robert Jornayvaz trumped Pop to take the 2nd of the Triple Crown, the PIAGET GOLD CUP. That leaves only one left for 2012 and that is a big one the UNITED STATES OPEN.  It starts Thursday in Palm Beach at IPC. Read all about field play with Alex Webb right here on PoloZONE in his Palm Beach Polo  Report.

The polo landscape is changing, How much I am not sure. I see it as going to be some interesting times on the Florida scene as despite the common gossip that  it will stay the same, I doubt it.  As without a pilot, a plane rarely runs the same.   Maybe it will make it, but not as smooth and it has happened before. When Bill Y left Palm Beach Polo Club, it changed in a big way.  When J.T. Oxley  left Boca, it went also went south fast.  South Florida polo had little direction until John Goodman stepped in. I know it is bigger now, but so is everything else including the cost, the responsibility  and the commitment.

Out west polo was a pot of gold in mid 2000’s and it turned to dust.  Now it may become a little more glitter  and less dust.  Eldorado Polo Club’s land has been sold to a MAGIC MAKER CALLED GOLDENVOICE, an entertainment company, who among many things puts on the Coachella Fest, one of the biggest outdoor concerts in the World.  They say Goldenvoice bought out all of Eldorado Polo club plus some properties around it including Fish Creek, Triangle Bar Farms and former Ambassador Glen Holden’s property adding up to about 280 acres total for about a 3rd of what it was once sold for. This is, however, said to be done.

This is good as Eldorado had become very tired as it traveled the same way of WPBPolo and Boca with no Sugar Daddy. I think this could be an exciting time with the rebirth of EMPIRE Polo next door, who is building a super facility.  Empire Polo Club is comparable to IPC in beauty and may be even better.

If these two clubs could join together they could make a “Polo Mecca” in the desert for North America and be an entertainment destination for people worldwide to play polo and live in a fantasy world for the winter months.   They have the beauty of the desert, the connection to the sea, mountains, nearby winter skiing/snow boarding and 90 minutes from Hollywood. Add to that tennis and golf and what you you have is a world-class winter wonderland. It could be amazing. Just imagine 15 polo fields all in a mile square with Empire Class and conditions there would just be no place like it in the World.

POLO WOULD GROWWWWWWWWW. I would like to hear the Lion Roar over all this and make it what it could be ((((( FANTASY LAND WITH POLO )))))

SEE YA.
