The Piaget Silver Cup featured two games today, the first between Mansour and Lucchese had some show stopping talent, as America’s newest 10 goal player Sapo Caset, challenged the grand master, 10 goal Adolfo Cambiaso. The game was fast and running, with Mansour patron Ben Soleimani making a big contribution to his team’s offense with two goals in the first half, but the superlative play of Adolfo helped Lucchese to a lead of 8-6 going into halftime. Mansour put on a show in the 4th, as Miguel Astrada on a beautiful handy grey mare was everywhere, and the score was tied at 9-9 at the end of the 4th. The score was still tied, at 10-10, after the 5th, but then Juan Curbelo scored the go ahead goal for Lucchese followed by two more insurance goals from Adolfo to make the final score 13-10 in favor of Lucchese.
Grants Farm and ERG played a hard physical game in the second half of the double header. Although ERG was playing with an unfamiliar lineup, as Mariano Gonzalez flew in to play in place of an ERG player still in England, the chemistry worked just fine for ERG, as they controlled the pace for most of the game. Grants Farm rallied to tie in the 3rd, but Paco de Narvaez crushed any chance of a come back with back to back goals in the span of a minute in the 4th chukker. Final score was 12-8 in favor of ERG
