The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder
… to everyone except Ellerstina. They never stop trying and they did not today from all counts I have heard. Maybe dad is rubbing off on them as GP1 (Gonzalo Pieres) never thought he could lose and he seldom did and that was just the way it was.
I personally thought they had very little chance, but well I was very wrong. It does show handicaps are very close in this polo tournament as a 38 goal team beat a 40 goal team on the flat. Maybe Mariano has to go back to 10 and at 45 years of age, that would be something. It sounds like except for the rain it was a very good season in Argentina. We had several very positive reports about North America’s Best player Fred Mannix, who is Canadian, but I believe the highest-rated North American there now. Well done Fred !!! He will most likley be playing in Palm Beach this winter with many of the Desert Rats Nick Morrison, Santi and Miguel Torres, Jason Crowder Freds Brother Julian Mannix, Diego Cossio, Mike Matz and Mariano Gonzalez. So many stars went that way and we now have the best place in the U.S. to play Polo.
The Desert is the place to be as it is a 10th of the cost and if Empire is not nicer than Palm Beach you are lost. No rain, two tournament games per week and a practice if you want it and you should if you can be there. Tournament games are set for business man Fri. and Sun. How can you possibly beat it? Weather and the Polo is First Class. It is a great place to be for the family, girlfriends or just whomever you bring … even a Mother In law! Just kidding as mine is here.
Yes there are CA drivers and they will be in left lane, but to drive in CA you must pass on the right to get by. I heard the other day we must enlarge Hwy’s across CA. Maybe we could save a trillion dollars by educating drivers and make up a lot by giving tickets for fools in the left hand lane. Florida is just as bad and you have to pay tolls so come out west.
see ya
Yo, Steve, that driving in the left lane is catching. I’m up here in Washington. This last week there were two different drivers, one even a semi, parked in the fast lane, despite numerous vehicles asking them to move over, then giving up and passing on the right. Maybe it is all those California Rats coming up here to get some water! Ha.
