if you ever been to Cowdray Park there is no doubt you know who I am talking about maybe not his name but the game announcer . He was the voice of Polo so knowledgeable and never left anything unsaid on the mic. He knew polo he played Polo ran a barn a school and took care of at least 10 thousand Polo players and grooms over 3 decades of British Polo , that is just the way he was SOLID. Terry was as brave as a Bull but had one fear that just never made sense as crazy as he was he would not Fly PERIOD. I tried to get him to come to America to announce in Boca with Tom Oxley he just refused and that was that . I met Terry about 1979 with Jack Oxley who I worked for and co sponsor David Jamieson . DJ who played many years in America and won more 2 sponsor Gold Cups in the Uk than anyone ever has. Terry always knew what to say and kept the game as a game for people to enjoy no matter the level or the score . He had nicknames for many of the players one I can think of was the late Carlos Gracida was the Mastro a well deserved title after so many Gold Cups . I for some reason probably age cannot remember his name for Lord Cowdray who was the head of it all when we first went there and it was him that started Terry as story goes . He alsso played and ran a Polo school there in Midhurst area where he started many big names including Gordon Rodrick of the Body Shop who played several years here in California . I seen Terry about 5 years ago with David J at the Spread Eagle Hotel for breakfast a perfect setting for two special English Gentlemen. so long Terry you will be missed.
