California Polo Club
As you may or may not know, Domingo’s nephew Miguel Questel was kicked on his abdomen by his horse prior to loading Saturday evening after the tournament – it happened while his horse was tied to his trailer. Paramedics were called and he was taken to the hospital for evaluation. That same evening he went into surgery to repair substantial injuries to his pancreas. As I understand it, his pancreas was crushed against his spinal cord – again, this is what we’ve heard and we do not have additional information.
As of now, Miguel is in an induced coma for about 6 days. This will help speed his recovery and reduce pain issues. He will need a follow-up surgery when he is brought out of his coma.
The family does have some insurance but will have a large amount of out of pocket expenses not covered by insurance since they live about 200 miles one way from the hospital.

From Russ Sheldon of Poway Polo Club
“Both Lakeside & Poway are looking to assist the Questel family by donations, I have asked if Miguel qualifies for assistance from the Polo Players fund – I am waiting to hear from Dave Offen about people making donations to the fund, which would be tax deductible & the money go to the Questel family – anyone wanting to make a direct donation can send a check to Frank Questel or Poway Polo ( put Miguel fund in the memo) mail to:14325 Midland Rd. Poway Ca 92064 I will see that the family gets the money, or you can give a check/cash at Poway chukkas & we will see that they get the money.”
