USPA’s ATLANTA REGIONAL POLO CENTER BRINGS THE POLO TO SUMMER CAMP!!!
The Atlanta Regional Polo Center has redefined the meaning of summer camp! Club Owner and Head Instructor, Jolie Liston hosted a Junior Polo Tournament & Clinic on July 28th– 31st that was attended by seventeen young polo players from various U.S. cities aging from 10-18 years-old. Among these participants were five members of the 2011 USPA Interscholastic Champion Work-to-Ride team from Philadelphia, PA.
To ensure there was no shortage of expertise on hand to coach these up and coming polo stars, Liston and her assistant, Liz Holson brought in PTF Instructor, Wilbur O’Ferral, and Virtual Polo with Kit Collins, as well as USPA’s Amanda Hersey to help get the event started.
Throughout this four day long polo extravaganza, days were packed with tournament play and review of games on video. Liston and her team also organized a number of games on horseback ranging from relay races to sharks and minnows, and un-mounted games including foot mallet polo and tacking-up relays. The aim of all activities and games was to increase proficiency, horsemanship and confidence in all aspects of polo. Every evening before camping out in tents at the club, participants had a planned activity which included; attending a Braves vs. Marlins baseball game, a movie night, an Argentine Asado, and a midnight polo game.
USPA Regional Polo Centers are there to support the growth of polo and reach out into the community to offer instruction to all who are interested in learning,” says National Club Development Director, Kris Bowman, “We are lucky to have Jolie and the Atlanta Regional Polo Center as part of our USPA team.
