The Pacific Coast Open(PCO) is in round 2 and the winner of game 2 is in the Finals. It should be a good one as The Legend and Ruki meet. Its the New vs. the Old with a twist. Two of the Legends and Piocho Ranch are very young. Its Zachara and their leader is a newcomer Lyndon Lee to the game in a way (about 4 years new). He is determined and he has some guns behind him in the form of “Nick the stick” (Nick Roldan) and the Ruki Baillieu along with vetran Brandon Phillips. They have a problem . . . experience is on the otherside. Memo Gracida and Tom Barrack of Piocho Ranch are not newcomers. They are hardened vetrans of the big ones. They have a pair of young guns in Julio Gracida and the KK (Kris Kampsen) who like to rock and roll. So come on out and watch those ponies run.
At 1 pm its Grant’s Farm/ERG taking on Audi and their own Superstar Gonzalo Pieres, Jr. They will be packing plenty of power to deal with the Iceman (Jeff Blake) and Paco de Narvaez. It also will be a dandy I am sure. Nobody is out of the Finals until sundown on Sunday.
Down south in partyland (San Diego Polo Club) its the Surfer (Diego Cossio) and Ms. Figi taking a 1 and 0 as they stopped Kelly Maloney’s Ohana on Friday. Also on Friday it was Mr. Ed Pope and Aspen Oaks beating up on Madison Sq/Tritech. So its an all out to win as they have two to go as well.
There is a 30 goal game in Sheridan, WY also on Sunday. Smoking Joe Henderson and Mr. Rooney try to get to the finals of the Canadian Open after beating Millarville on Thursday, but Abiatti and Pedro are in their way.
Up in the wild west at Petaluma, CA its was Eric Wright and Vladamir Rivkin showing the party town their way as they won the 2007 verzion of the Oyster Cup in what was said to be a very good game. In NY it was Adolfo Cambiaso and Two Trees as Champs. As usual he does it all anywhere, but it sounds like a relative of Lolo Castagnolia named Facundo is doing very well at 6 goals. Adolfo Cambiaso just needs a little. He is the Tiger Woods of Polo.
We have heard of some very good paint horses for sale. Two of them are on the block and one is 12 and very good and lightly used. Another is 7 and smaller, but a very steady Pinto. Both are mares and both are good looking. Call me if you want more information 805-896-4406 and ask for Steve.
We are also looking for teams in Santa Barbara for the Fall 8-goal. There is 6 weeks of polo. All on Sat. and Sun. which is set-up for the working Patron. So get ready to roll. See ya at POLO!
