In Palm Beach its the USPA Piaget Gold Cup. In Sarasota they are after the first round of the Triple Crown. Out West there is the Officer’s Cup where everyone still has a little chance now that Mr. Smooth (Curt Hughes) is out with a broken arm. He may not seem tough, but talk about tough . . . Curt went down last Sunday in a heap with a mare laying on top of him and came up with a dazed look. Then he looked around, got on his horse and hit a few balls and announced that he was fine to play. Curt continued play and won in overtime. It wasnt’ until after the game that he found out he had a broken arm to go along with a bruised chin and temple, but I guess this is not that bad as 2 years ago he had open heart surgery and was playing again in 4 months. Curt calls his team Friendly Chevorlet. Maybe it should be Ford Tough Curt Series instead. Well we wish him a speedy recovery as the 12-goal starts in 7 weeks! This opens the door for young Lance Hughes to step in so they do not lose much. The Colorado Cowgirl (Jenny Luttrell) has her team back in the runnin’ as well as Ms. Shelley Geiler and Big Ed Pop who is still around, so it could be a fun filled weekend. Then we have the Skins which gets rockin’ early on Friday as the Fass-etta (Mariano Fassetta) and the Palomino (Jason Crowder) take the Argy connection to the bank at Long Beach with a Desert Doc (Henry Randazzo) could be fun. Silent Chris Maloney, with the ugly car, is going to fire up his new machine vs. the Bones (Ron Bonaguidi) and the Pro. Yhey both may have pros now so it could be a dandy as well. So far in this Tournament Bones is up 3 to 0 so we shall see at sundown on Friday.
See ya wherever you go it should be to POLO.
