PTF LogoNew polo players have to come from somewhere, that’s one of the reasons the Polo Training Foundation is investing time and resources into tournaments like this week’s Major Collins Memorial Cup and the Tackeria Cup at the International Polo Club in Wellington.

The tournaments come on the heels of a Monday clinic in which Executive Director Danny Scheraga and Team USPA member Branden Vanloon worked with a handful of aspiring young players on set plays and positions, knock-ins and control of the ball. “There were only five players on hand,” said Scheraga, “but I think it worked out better because Branden (Vanloon) and I got more time to spend with each of them.”

Maryland was responsible for three of the players participating in the clinic with Olivia and Hannah Reynolds and Lila Bennett. River Blake and Elizabeth Fenner live in Wellington.  All five will be participating in Wednesday’s tournament with Lila Bennett, River Blake, Olivia Reynolds and Elizabeth competing in the Major Collins Memorial Cup and Hannah Reynolds playing in the Tackeria Cup.
