This Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. ET, the main NBC network will broadcast the finals match of the historic 110th Maserati U.S. Open Polo Championship ®. Fans will get a rare up close look at polo, enjoy several polo shorts during the game, and can enter to win a sweepstakes for next year’s U.S. Open on US

PA’s Facebook page.
Thanks to the use of an aerial drone mounted camera, the broadcast will feature close ups of theaction on the vast polo field between teams Valiente and Alegria. The U.S. Open broadcast will also include a number of special features in addition to the match play, including:
  • Veteran NBC announcer Kenny Rice, who was recently featured in NBC’s coverage of the Belmont Stakes, along with analyst Adam Snow a 2014 inductee in the Polo Hall of Fame

This year has been a watershed moment for polo on television with more polo on TV with the broadcasts of the upcoming U.S. Open and C.V. Whitney earlier this year. These broadcasts are a direct result of USPA Marketing, LLC’s reaction to member input, which asked for mainstream sports media coverage of polo. Media has stood up and taken notice to how this is positively affecting polo: the Financial Times recently wrote a story on how the upcoming U.S Open broadcast is part of what’s pushing polo’s new mainstream appeal.
The U.S. Polo Association is presenting the airing, and we want you to join thefestivities, both in front of the television and online. Celebrate this historic match by spreading the word via social media to fellow players and friends with whom you want to share your passion for polo.
