I am from the  Colorado Rockies and its been a bad two days as the Rockies baseball team got swept by Boston in the World Series and tonight the Green Bay Packers beat Denver in OT on a bomb by Brett Farve on the first play in overtime. Well, this is why this came to mind. We never think of these things in Polo. For one thing hardly anyone ever hears of it if they are not part of the game. Mainly its just tackroom talk, but I was thinking that we have a Brett Farve among polo players. He is older, as Brett is 38,  and his name is Carlos Gracida. Nobody has ever said he is a tough s.o.b. like Memo or Ernesto, but they always seem to call him when they need a golden rock. A couple of years ago a 10-goal player got hurt in Argentina and who did they call?  Not another South American 10, but Carlos Gracida. This summer a 9 was needed. Again, they call Carlos G.  Last Saturday  in the Argentine Open series some player gets hurt and who do they get? Once again, Carlos Gracida and what happens? They usually win and they did last week and last summer as well. He is like Brett. Who are the best Q backs? Tom Brady and Eli Manning, but Brett has the most wins. Who is the famous polo player? Memo and his Father and as well Carlos’ Father. Who won the most? Memo? Well maybe and maybe not. Carlos won 8 Gold Cups, 5 Argentine Opens and 8 or 10 U.S. Opens.  Why? Well it must have been because he was playing with Memo who won 16 or 17 U.S. Opens. But how many Argentine Opens or British Opens? Same for Gonzalo Pieres who was the the best in his day. Adolfo Cambiaso is now. They just never say Carlos Gracida. Well it was just something I thought of tonight as I sat in traffic for 3 hours and went 22 miles per hour. So you’re bored.  I was worse until I thought of this. Oh and Fred Mannix did not win in the Argentine Open today and Chapa 2 kicked the Astradas around so now you know what I know.

see ya
