The Polo Report

Bullet Bob Jornayvaz went from the finals of the 12-Goal  in ’09 to the finals of his first 26-goal in 12 months. That is amazing for a 50 year old rookie, but he deserves it. Similar to Patagonia’s Patron Gonzalo Avendano, Bob went to work and earned it the old-fashioned way. He worked for it and now they are enjoying the fruits of their work and doing what they want to do. This is such an amazing example for many of our young players. If they could just see it. A real benchmark to those not gifted to be the super stars,  but who can earn the money to hire them later. It may be the way to make Polo a way of life for many.

Anyway it is fantastic that Bob has done so well in his first season in the mega polo. His son, who is a super star rider in equestrian events and undefeated in California polo, is looking over Bob’s shoulder saying “I am here Pop if your tired. ” They rolled over Orchard Hill today on their way to the finals, where unfortunately they get to meet King George and well Adolfo Cambiaso who do know a little about winning. It will be two Patrons who back down from no one, so it will be the pros who have to make it happen.

The great thing about Polo is nobody knows who will win.  It is a game and it is not just 4 people vs 4 people there are also about 50 horses and 30 grooms in between and anyone can have a bad day and twist it all up. That is why we play the game of POLO.   Happy and you NEVER KNOW.

See you at the finals.
