The day began with Student Level competition.  In the first game, players Jessica Wadleigh, Madison Teater, and Tristan Symth won 2 to 1 against Mike torres, Theo Anastos, and Kristin Olsen.

Winners of the second Student Level game, a round robin, were Paul Poolsiri, Nicole DeBerg, and Charles Schmidt.  They won over two other teams (1) Cadie Browne, Danielle Sciarecci, Sara Barnett, and (2) Sharon Heider, Susan Fuller, Mike Torres.

(-2 to 0) goal games followed with Kevin Lynch, Jeff Hedgecock, and Parker Scott of Poway Polo Club winning 7 to 3 riding against San Diego Polo Club’s Bing Bush, Tom Rath, Jim Anderson, Patrick Daniels, and Gerardo Martinez.  Kevin Lynch was high scorer with four goals.

(-2 to 0) competition continued with Carlos Gutierrez, Susan Harris, Poncho Martinez splitting with Nour-Dean Anakar displaying trophies after winning 7 to 4 over Scott Bogess, Julie Empey, Russ Sheldon, and Nancy Kirchhoffer.

The (0 to 2) goal match was won by Ed Masterson, Jesse Bray, and Alex Masterson, winning 10 to 6 over Cary Burch, Hollie Boggess, and David Teater.  Cary Burch helped his team with four goals scored.  The high scorer for the winning team with five goals was Jesse Bray.

The feature match of the day was an Interscholastic round robin with players from San Diego,  Poway, and El Dorado.  Winners Daniel Galindo, Savanna Broderick, and Meaghan Scanlon beat two other teams including (1) Steven Paulson, Brittany Post, Harrison Samaniego, and, (2) David Samaniego, Katie Schutz, Quinn Proffer.  High scorer overall was Daniel Galindo with six goals, Savanna Broderick and David Samaniego had four each.  Fans packed both sides of the arena viewing area for all six chukkers, cheering on these talented riders.

Announcer Derek Dalton called the play by play and gave color commentary throughout the daywhile players, families, and friends enjoyed barbeque and a fun filled day of arena polo.

San Diego Polo Club’s Arena School continues with lessons and chukkers on Tuesday and Thursday evening, and Saturday morning.
