You have to be there to believe it but you will never forget it . It is not a big club and has worst fields in Polo yet has more players outside of Indio of any club in the West and more fans than Long Island and as much fun as a Hollywood Party . It makes me wonder about 1979 I started coming to Santa Barbara in the Spring and the fields were great but by July with 8 to 12 teams in 8 weeks of 12 and 14 goal Polo + practices on 3 fields it was well Dusty and sometimes rough going but really it was the same for two teams . Also what rarely happens any where but SDPC they had a lot of fun after the game and damn near ever weekend there was a BBQ or a party . Guess what almost everyone had fun and loved to be there and would be back next year and they were . By the time the 20 goal started it was a very nice pasture but with 8 to 15 teams and even more fun from out of town people just glad to be here from Texas , Oklahoma , Missouri, Kentucky , Chicago and Canada . What the hell happened they spent money on fields improved water system regulated field use and spent more time being special and Guess what it has become a Ghost Town with better fields no parties and worst of all NO POLO TEAMS and you do not have to have a calculator to count the fans for 8, 12 or 20 goal. WHY ? SD Polo has no clubhouse and not high goal Polo and fields from the 80,s because of other reasons has more teams and huge crowds and a hell of a lot of fun and makes you think they are so happy to have you there . It was not like I am thinking of the past it was Today I went to the Spreckles Cup there the Pac Open here the Skins in Indio and The Champions Cup those two had huge crowds for 12 and 8 goal Polo but none had the attitude of the Spreckles it was like going to the US OPEN or the Ryders Cup it was an experience you remember because it was fun before during and most important after the game . This is what Polo was meant to be an experience a moving event which exposes the sport of Polo the fastest team sport in the World with Danger , anger often and complete eyeball view of speeding horses like hockey players moving with grace and beauty and often crashes like auto racing for 2 hours more or less which leave a memory even if your only there for the people watching and believe me if it is like today you will watch them .WOW! we will be back! The game was even as well for most of it but a Ole Feller named silent Chris showed he is always up for the big one and rode away with yet another title and it was fun to watch as Mrs Bancroft and her or as we know her Joy sent her Son Colin out to challenge Chris but could only come so close it looks like time for Hugh to take control of the vehicles he knows speed and he loves to be first . All in all it was a party when it was all over and just plain old fun for all winning was the past partying was the moment . San Diego is run and organized by no great powers like Chris Maloney but he put together Heather and Graham and added a Jewel named Lyndsay and it is what it is THE BEST IN THE WEST PERIOD . This is what Polo needs it is a gentleman’s sport Maybe but there are a lot of Ladies playing now so that maybe only 1/2 true . The thing is Polo needs to return to the 90’s or maybe even the 70’s where it is a social sport and so much fun otherwise we will not exist for long . The simple fact is if you can afford to play Polo you sure as hell can afford not to so if it is not fun ADIOS . IT IS SIMPLE MAKE IT FUN AND PEOPLE WILL COME AND THEY WILL RETURN WITHOUT CROWDS THERE WILL BE NO SPONSORS AND IF IT IS NOT FUN THEY WILL NOT BE BACK . HIRE SOMEONE WHO CAN MAKE IT {{HAPPEN }} SOCIAL BROADCASTING IS SOMETHING FEW CAN DO AND IT SHOWS UP RIGHT NOW .JUST DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
