BLOOMFIELD OVER SKANEATELES AT SARATOGA POLO

Cuko Escapite opened up a wild third chukker to lead Bloomfield past Skaneateles in the penultimate match of the Saratoga Polo season on Friday. The final score was 7-4.

With exception of the third chukker, the contest was a tough back and forth affair. The first chukker was entirely scoreless. Will Orthwein started the scoring with a penalty shot in the second and Escapite had another for Bloomfield. Cesar Jimenez responded for Skaneateles with a score to finish out the second chukker with a 2-1 score in favor of Bloomfield.

The third chukker turned out to be the difference maker, as Escapite teamed up with Jackie Czub for 4 tallies for Bloomfield. Skaneateles’ Ricky Bostwick came back with a marker to cut Bloomfield’s lead to 4 at the half.

Tab Orthwein put the ball between the posts once in the fifth chukker, but Bloomfield was otherwise held scoreless in the second half. In addition to their stingy defense, Skaneateles rallied late with goals in the sixth from Bostwick and Jimenez. The rally, however, was too late and Bloomfield ended up on top by 3 at the final horn.

The final match of the Saratoga Polo season will be held on Sunday, September 3rd at 5:30pm, weather permitting. For more information about Saratoga Polo, call 518-584-8108 or visit saratogapolo.com.
