Sidenotes: The air was thick with smoke from the “Day Fire” in the Ojai area, south of the SBPRC polo fields in Carpinteria by 35-40 miles. Burning since Labor Day, it went out of control overnight and local residents here woke up to an obscured sun and ashes on everything. As of this writing, it is still out of control. Luckily it did not stop polo and none of the players or horses seemed to be adversely affected by the atmosphere.

You can see the evidence of the smokey air in the photos attached.
Earlier in the day, the Triple Crown of Polo was broadcast on ESPN2 that covered the finals of the Bombardier Pacific Coast Open. Reviews were all shining – stating how great the production was and how beautiful it made the SBPRC look on camera.

In case you missed it, the TRIPLE CROWN of POLO will air again this Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 11:30 a.m. on ESPN2 in Santa Barbara on Cox Cable at Channel 35. Out of the area residents, please check your local listings – it will just say “Polo”.
