Sunday, Sept. 9th, the San Diego Polo Club hosted the Rancho Valencia Cup Finals. Adeptus and OC fought their way through a field of eight teams to reach the finals. OC led by Diego Cossio, with Nicolai Galindo, Theo Wakefield and patron Rick Paicius was facing an undefeated Adeptus team with Tomas Obregon, Carlitos Galindo, Jessica Bailey and patron Colleen Wilson.
Adeptus got off to a good start holding OC scoreless in the first chukker and getting goals from Tomas Obregon and Jessica Bailey. The second chukker was even better for Adeptus as Bailey added her second goal followed by one from Carlitos Galindo. Then Tomas Obregon finished off the chukker with three straight goals bringing the score at halftime to 7-0. To begin the second half, OC got on the board first but Carlitos Galindo answered for Adeptus with one in the third and one in the fourth chukkers to complete the victory. Adeptus dominated from beginning to end and the game’s MVP award went to Jessica Baley who as usual did a lot of the dirty work in the trenches.
