San Diego is a great place to be right now. The Polo is fun, the weather is good and the people are just good, fun people. San Diego Polo Club is just a good fun place to be anytime, but especially in the Fall. However, if your looking for the final two, it may not be so much fun right about now. The way I see it 3 teams really have a chance and 1 maybe a sliver of a chance. Two teams are already out of the running.
In the hunt of the 14-Goal there are the whiners of Hanalei Bay, Silent Chris Maloney with his Tri Tech squad and Ms. Figi and the Gypsy team. Some say no, but they really only have to win and they are in the lead in net goals and gross goals and they are tied with win/loss so its a win and they are in. If Tritech wins they are in. Hanalei Bay has a very good chance of making it for the final cut. The only change they could have is their win/loss record as their nets are set. Tri Tech beat them so that could be a factor only in a 2-way tie. They beat or slid through OT against Gypsy with blindsided of luck. So the truth is . . .nobody knows. There will be very small chance of a 3-peat as Madison Square has a very big hole dug around them. So come on out Friday as it will be fight time, but only until the sun goes down. When it gets dark its PARTY TIME. It will be a big one under the tent with the Casino Royale Theme. We shall be there, crying maybe, but just until sundown.
If your a Lady and you play polo its time to sign up for the biggest Lady’s tournament in the West. Its show time for the Women’s Gladiator Polo Tournament on Oct.. 6 & 7th. The ladies are coming to town from Mexico, England, Florida, Canada and just about anywhere they play polo. After that the Lady’s can get ready for Costa Careyes, Mexico which happens to be heaven and only 3 hours away. It is a mans World they say!
Some great news out of Argentina, the Gringo’s won. The Gringo’s are called team Alegría with team captain Frederick Mannix, Jr., Ruki Baillieu along with Luke Tomlinson of England and Francisco Bensadón. They won the first game of the Qualification Tournament. The winners of this tournament then qualify to enter the Open Tournaments of Argentina which include the Tortugas Open, Hurlingham Open and Argentine (Palermo) Open. They beat a very good Lobos team, but the Gringos aka Alegría have Julio Zavaleta coaching them, so watch out. They are on their way. If they have one more win they are in.
