Terry Hanlon the voice of polo in my opinion the best there ever has been was laid to rest today and it is sad to say the final goodbye but I do and to his many friends and two men who were fantastic friends of his and mine, many thanks for all there efforts David Jamieson and Mr Roddick as in Gordon heard they wore his Jerseys at the funeral .                                               Here a few thousand miles away where it never rains it did not but scared it might had the finals of the Pope Challenge Finals @ 10.30 AM Sunday it was MR Grant Palmer not Geof who is taking home all the Silver so far this year but I am sure Geof is just as happy for his Son who is the best patron on the West Coast right now . He is quick smart and reads the game very well and with trotz help has made a mega team ,  Friday was a perfect example the big gun Pipi was dead at goal shooting and were forced into OT with LMB 2 but there are 4 players on this team Grant Jimmy Wright Pipi Vercillano and Herndon Radcliff all under probably 25 and players . To me  Jim Wright is the right one as he takes on big stick on opponents and well so far he has done it and he scored OT goal in virtual semis when Pipi was cold  and got it done. Action at SB has been good Weather in Paradise could be the same maybe Chicago cold rainy and Bermuda has never grown as ground temp about 50 . We mowed a field today and got one full load out of the sweeper. But no chance of sunburn and no Tornadoes so come and c us the next one starts Friday .                                                                                                                                                               I know this has nothing to do with Polo but we have had some disasters in racing with Santa Anita Track with 28 deaths of horses and it seems it has to be a footing problem which may have been due to the fact dirt changes with rain and moisture and the last wet year we had was 2011 7 years lot changes . I have another thought about TB racing that I think makes sense in a discussion with a couple well known Vets. I brought this up and I do think it could be TB racing means 1 thing it has to be a TB registered proved beyond doubt . Well could this be a possible theory in the early 70’s Secretariat won the Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown and still holds record for KDerby . Why nearly 50 yrs later we have not improved ?  The man made 14 seconds faster since then . Jumpers jump 14 inches higher Polo horses are 3 times faster . Could it be after 200 or 300 yrs of solid Thoroughbred Breeding they have become inbred and not capable of improving but going other way ? There are the only ones who never  mix and compete ? Maybe we need to look at lineage it just could be we need to add some Clydesdale to the breeding pen well maybe not Clydesdale’s Just a thought !
