With 2 less teams than last year, the high goal season is underway at the Santa Barbara Polo Club as of 3 pm last Sunday. It was a short form, 4 team knockout, but the Silver Cup will be underway at 1 p.m. field 2 @ Santa Barbara Polo in Carpinteria, CA. The defending Champions Lucchese and the Great one Adolfo Cambiaso (AC) open against the Mansour machine of Ben Solemoni’s which features brand new 10 goaler Sapo Casset and former 10 goaler Miguel Astrada. It will be Lucchese’s first game as AC just arrived from the UK and Mansour will be entering their 3rd game, so horses could be a factor as practice is practice and not always the same or ever.
At 3 pm it will be Grant’s Farm with America’s two leading players Nick Roldan and Jeff Hall playing with Andy Busch and young gun … Copola or Morrision as they take on a make up ERG team. Their big gun is still in the UK)where Sebe Merlos is Captain of the Les Lions team, a finalist in the Gold Cup . At 9 goals will be replaced with a double switch as Santi Torres, a 5 goal local player, will take his brother Miguel’s place. An old favorite Mariano Gonzalez will replace Sebe for the first game of Silver Cup team which will be with full-time Captain Scott Woods and Paco De Narvaez . Mariano is now officially a Yankee as he stays in New York most of the time these days, but decided to drop in for a visit. The first 2 finalists Audi and Piaget will receive the bye and play losers of games Sunday on this Friday. Here is the way it is:
