Twelve young talented American players who have been training in Sheridan Wyoming at the Flying H Polo Club with mentors such as Julio Arellano,Hector Galindo, Steve Dalton,Tiger Kneece,Owen Rinehart,Frankie Bilbao and Gonzalo Teves, took to the field as three compeitive teams to play for a win. Normally teams are coached and tapes are reviewed by the mentors but no scores were kept until today. Team USPA West came out strong and defeated Team Sheridan in the first game. Team USPA East had a tougher time against Sheridan but took a win 4 -2. The finals pitted Team USPA West, captained by Jorge Estrada,coached by Owen Rinehart against Team USPA East, captained by Pedro Lara, coached by Hector Galindo. The finals were fast and furious.Herndon Radcliff and Reme Muller covered the field with some nailbiting full field breakaways. Captain Jorge Estrada seemed to be everywhere on the field, digging the ball out of unlikely plays and firing them off to his teammates. Meghan Shader was a pillar of defense for Team USPA East and Neil Osburg had the golden mallet scoring a total of 5 goals overall. Neil Osburg was named MVP of the game and Herndon Radcliff’s mare “Coraline” was named BPP.Ford MacCarty ,Captain of the young Team Sheridan has requested a rematch and is confident that his team will make a comeback next time.Special thanks to Jimmy Newman, the mentors,Hector Galindo,Julio Arellano and Owen Rinehart as well as umpires Boone Stribling and Tom Gose.
