It can be California or Costa Careyes, Mexico, which is no doubt, the most amazing place you may ever go. A either club you play polo every week on every scheduled date. Let’s just think about it. How many clubs have had 2 games in Feb.? Today is the 16th of Feb. In Indio they have had 4 games and are assured of 2 more this week plus practice games. In Costa Careyes they have had maybe 5 and a few more exciting days to go with the Chinese New Year.
Look fellow polo people. You should really need to look West and get your bang for the buck. As long as we have enough water for irrigation, you will play polo and there is no other polo facility like Empire Polo Club. Not only do they have the face of polo there this season, Nacho Figueras, but they are the face of POLO. It is amazing the crowds, the setting and the property. Right next door you have El Dorado Polo Club with a face lift and a budget to make it amazing. Together there are approximately 25 fields in the area. No trailer needed if you do not want one and nothing but green grass. Nearby they have Big Bear Mountain and snow skiing, there are hundred of swimming pools in the desert, tennis, 125+ golf courses, Hollywood and Beverly Hills just a couple of hours away. You will save enough $ playing polo here in the desert to buy a plane to get here. Come see for yourself. There is no reason just not to. stay in Santa Barbara 4 inches of rain no day under 70 in Feb. Bermuda is growing. Rent is less and the ocean is warm.
In the polo world here, Mr. Maloney (formerly known as Silent Chris) continues to dominate polo. He has once again won the big one on Sunday. His pros may hope he goes back to work as Twin Palms beat Antelope in the finals and Graham Bray was the MVP.
Next door it was Mr. Barrack’s team Piocho in front of 3500 fans continuing to lead the league. T hey are headed to a showdown along with two wild Men from Orange County who LIKE this game … Virgil and Ryan and their Bush League Team. These 3 Patrons are the reason CA polo is coming back . “THEY LIKE THE GAME. ” We have it all here.
Polo on the west coast has never been weak. It just happens the polo stars go east including: Jeff Hall, Jesse Bray, Jason Crowder, Santi Torres and a few Argies … Mariano Gonzalez , Francisco Lanusse, Sapo Casset, and biggest of them al HALL OF FAMER HECTOR GALINDO. Well done Hector. There is no one in the last 20 years who deserved it more than you. And yes he is from TEXAS.
Think about it … California is what it is, but they do have good wine and a lot of things to do.
