June 26th 08: Results to date:
Play resumed in the Thomas B. Glynn Memorial today and Zuma and White Birch were close in the first half. Going into intermission White Birch was ahead, 6-4. While Zuma stayed close they were never able to mount a breakthrough. Then in the fourth chukker White Birch took charge as Mariano Aguerre scored three unanswered goals. Aguerre had a superlative day, with 11 goals, many coming in traffic. He also grabbed the ball off a number of throw-ins, and turned it several times.
The final; of the Glynn will be Sunday at 3 PM.
After rain delays we have the following results.
Tupungato defeated Zuma 12-8 Sunday in a game held at Meadowbrook. The first half was close with Tupungato up 6-4 at halftime. Three of the Tupungato goals were scored by Mauricio Devrient on his home field (he ended the match with four goals).
The second half belonged to Nic Roldan who scored five times. Tupungato held an 8-6 lead entering the final chukker, and then Roldan had a hat trick.
Monday Greenwich beat the rain and White Birch beat Airstream, 17-8. The men in green and white simply outplayed their opponents. Both Mariano Aguerre and Ulysses Escapite had six goals. Mother nature must be a White Birch fan as the skies opened up with a thunderstorm and torrential downpour just minutes after the final horn.
Thursday is White Birch- Zuma. Sunday is the final of the Thomas B. Glynn Memorial Tournament.
