Today was a day you do not want to remember unless you bet on the NY Giants and Eli Manning. It is simple they did it and it was an upset? They have been playing football well and if your playing well it can happen. Polo today was an upset, but there were no upsets except by the wind. We have had a very bad time this year here at Eldorado PC. The fields are horrible, the place looks like pictures of the depression and dust bowl days. Yet, somehow, Polo goes on and this is a good thing. If we can survive in the “ghetto” we will make it eventually in the big time. Despite all, some Polo Fathers, mainly Bob Bradley, have stepped up to stop the run of hit the road and came up with a new guy on the Block. His name is Albert Landsdorp. Can he stop the run? We do not know, but I know he will try. As far as I can tell he is a man about changing our flow from the Bunk House to the Club House and that is a positive step. Its been a while since we’ve had one. Polo is a fickle sport. Nobody has to play polo and its really that simple. Polo community hopes players and sponsors continue to play.
After ALL THIS it was a big shi_ _ day. The wind at times was 70 miles an hour. At one point I looked up and the goal posts were rolling down the field faster than the players. At one time on 3 fields there was 1 goal post standing out of 6. Thats bad and a problem caused by the wind. We ended up having to use cones to keep the games in play.
About what happened today it was like this:
At 10 a.m. 30 mile an hour winds
8-Goal: Casa Blanca smoked Mc Polo. Briana Galindo was awesome!
12-Goal: The Hawks beat the Colorado Cowgirl and Cottrell farms in overtime.
At High Noon
Phoenix in OT and 50 mile an hour wind beat Summerland/True Choice.
At 2 P.M.
In 70 mile an hour winds it was Long Beach and their Patron Grandpa Danny (Dan Walker) and son who kicked High Prairie out of the final as they won the Jan. 12-goal and a game of the Feb. league in a double value game. It was close. You could not see it, however, due to dirt flying from the sand storm, but thats what Tony said.
There was another game, but I could not be there, but will report as soon as I know. So as depressing as it seems, lets give Albert, the new General Manager at Eldorado Polo Club, a chance. We just might come back to be the biggest Polo Club in the West!!
We got nothing to lose! See ya.
In Florida Shane Rice won in overtime and the wind was not a factor, but it should be there soon at the rate it was blowing .
