Villa del Lago (Jim Zenni, Agustin Obregon, Hilario Ulloa and Carlucho Arellano) 10-goaler Hilario Ulloa led the field with seven goals but it was a balanced Tonkawa (Jeff Hildebrand, Sapo Caset, Costi Caset and Facundo Obregon) attack that won the match, 11-7 in the third round of play in the 2017 Joe Barry Memorial Cup at the International Polo Club Wednesday afternoon.

Tonkawa led by a single goal, 5-4, at the end of the first half but outscored Villa Del Lago 6-3 in the final three chukkers for the victory.
Facundo Obregon led the Tonkawa attack with five goals from the field. Ten-goaler Sapo Caset added four goals and Costi Caset scored twice. The win gives Tonkawa a perfect 3-0 record and moves them into the tournament semifinal on Wednesday, January 18th against a yet-to-be-determined opponent. Villa Del Lago falls to 0-2.

Mt. Brilliant 14, La Indiana 10

Later in the day, Jason Crowder’s seven goals led Mt. Brilliant (Bo Goodman, Jason Crowder, Santiago Chavanne and Julian Daniels) to a 14-10 win over La Indiana (Michael Bickford, Jeff Hall, Mike Azzaro and Gringo Columbres).

Six-goaler Jason Crowder led the Mt. Brilliant attack with seven goals in the team’s 14-10 win.

The win levels the Mt. Brilliant record at 1-1 while La Indiana suffered their second loss in three outings.

Joe Barry Memorial Cup action continues Thursday with the 2-0 Grand Champions Polo Club (Grant Ganzi, Inaki Laprida, Nic Roldan and Juancito Bollini) facing Postage Stamp Farm (Annabelle Gundlach, Brandon Phillips, Mariano Aguerre and Kris Kampsen) I n a noon contest. Postage Stamp Farm will be looking to improve on their 1-1 record while Grand Champions will try to lock up their bracket with a third win.

In the second game of the day, Coca-Cola (Gillian Johnston, Julian de Lusarreta, Julio Arellano and Del Walton) will battle Goose Creek (Maureen Brennan, Peke Gonzalez, Mariano Gonzalez and Tomas Garcia del Rio) at 3pm. Goose Creek enters the match with a 1-1 record while Coca-Cola is winless in two games.
