Trinity fought hard for a well-earned win on Sunday in the 8-goal Emerald Cup Finals at Empire Polo Club. This was their second win in the February 8-Goal League. Trinity included players Rick Paicius, Tim Rudy, Mariano Gutierrez and Abby Riggs.

Lockton, (Hernan Tejera, Tim Kelly, Charlie Cendoya and Remy Muller) proved to be a strong opponent, keeping up with Trinity head-to-head through the fifth chukker. The game started off quick with both teams putting points on the board to end the first chukker tied 2-2. Mariano Gutierrez and Tim Rudy scored for Trinity and Remy Muller and Hernan Tejera matched them with a goal each.

The game continued with big plays by both teams that kept the score moving and the game tied through the second chukker. Tim Kelly’s Lockton Team took a one-point lead in the third period of play with a pair of goals scored by Tejera and Cendoya. Rick Paicius added a penalty shot to close the gap as Trinity started the fourth chukker down by one. Paicius was not done. He scored a goal from the field to tie it up once again. Gutierrez came into the fifth chukker on fire and put three more points on the board. Trinity never looked back. Lockton pushed hard to narrow the margin with a penalty shot by Cendoya in the fifth and a goal scored by Tejera in the sixth chukker. It wasn’t enough to stop Trinity from a trip to the trophy stand with a final score of 10-8.
