Trinity defeated Empire 8 to 11-6 to win the mid-month 8-Goal Finals at
Empire Polo Club
Empire 8 started out strong in the first chukker with a quick 2-point lead. Alex Haagen IV and Ashton Wolf each scored one goal from the field and Miguel Gutierrez scored one goal from a penalty shot. Going into the second chukker Trinity was eager to close the gap and they started scoring goals. Rick Paicius converted two penalty shots to put Trinity in the lead and they never looked back. A pair of back-to-back goals off of the mallet of Tim Rudy increased the lead for Trinity heading into the second half of the game 6-4.
Empire fought hard to gain some ground with a goal by Wolf, but Trinity kept scoring. Paicius and Gutierrez both added a goal each keeping them in a distant lead. Gutierrez scored two more unanswered goals in the fifth chukker. Empire 8 rallied in the sixth chukker, but Trinity held their ground and in the end it wasn’t enough. Trinity won the game and took home the silver with a final score of 11-6.
