Twin Palms Polo Club at La Quinta
Twin Palms Polo Club at La Quinta is a new club that was founded by Chris Maloney and Graham Bray. This is great news for desert polo as the new club plans to offer competitive 8-10 goal polo with a “patron friendly” format.
Twin Palms Polo Club has two immaculate fields set against a backdrop of the mountains in La Quinta. They can support 8 patrons who each bring a pro with them – forming pairs of 4-goals or better. Each patron and pro are matched-up with other pairs to compete in two-week tournaments. They rotate pairs each tournament so you get to play with everyone at the club. Weekly practices are held on Thursday and tournaments are played Saturday and Sunday, January 9th through April 12th. One of the well-known benefits of playing at Twin Palms Polo Club is that everything is included in your playing membership fee including umpires, flaggers, drinks and food. All you have to do is bring your horses and be ready to play some fun polo on what many consider to be the best fields in the desert.
Graham Bray is the General Manager of Twin Palms Polo Club. He has been managing the club since its inception and he is a driving force behind the club’s success. He knows how to make polo fun and hassle-free and can hook players up with pros, horses and stabling for a week, a month, or the entire season. The desert has been home to Bray for many years. He came to the U.S. from New Zealand 1n 1978 and has played polo since he was 18 years old. He is currently rated 5-goals (formerly 7-goals). During the summer months, Bray is the Polo Manager at the San Diego Polo Club.
Chris Maloney has played at the club for two seasons and is the “polo angel” who is the founder of this new club. Without his support and ownership of Twin Palms Polo Club the desert may have been short of good fields and good polo. The polo community is lucky to have Maloney as one of its long-time players. He is also the President and a Founding Member of the San Diego Polo Club. Off the polo field, Maloney is Founder, President and CEO of TriTech Software Systems. TriTech provides public safety products and services to police, fire and EMS agencies that address nearly every facet of public safety command and control, deployment, logistics, and decision support.
Twin Palms Polo Club is almost full for this coming winter season. They currently have only one or two spots open for patrons, so please call Graham Bray if you are interested. They expect to have a full roster this season!
