Postage Stamp Farm (Annabelle Gundlach, Brandon Phillips, Guille Aguero and Leo Mandelbaum) will be looking to make it two in a row Friday afternoon when they face Dutta Corp. (Timmy Dutta, Tim Dutta, Carlitos Gracida and Nic Roldan) in the opening 3PM match of the 2015 US Trust Cup at the Grand Champions Polo Club.
Annabelle Gundlach celebrated her first year of tournament polo last week when her Postage Stamp Farm team downed a talented Audi foursome to win the Fall Season opener in the Tackeria Invitational Cup, and with the same lineup, she will be looking for a second tournament win in US Trust Cup action.
Dutta Corp got off to a disappointing start last week, losing to Audi (15-9) and Casablanca (12-10), but feels ready for the US Trust challenge.
“We made some lineup changes,” offered team captain Tim Dutta, “that will give us more firepower moving forward. I’m moving to the Back position moving Timmy (Dutta) and Carlitos (Gracida) to the front end of the attack. Nic (Roldan will take the pivotal Number 3 position.”
In the second game of the day, Sopris Mountain Ranch (Santos Bollini/Riley Ganzi, Wes Finlayson, J.J. Celis and Julio Ezcurra) will battle US Trust (Grant Ganzi, Marc Ganzi, Luis Escobar and Jesse Bray) in a 5PM contest.
Sopris Mountain Ranch will be taking the field with the veteran combination of Julio Ezcurra and J.J. Celis. Ezcurra and Celis combined for an impressive ten goals in last week’s consolation game with Dutta Corp., and are expected to display that same team play in US Trust competition. Wes Finlayson will offer a more youthful look to the lineup with teens Santos Bollini and Riley Ganzi splitting the Number 1 spot in the lineup.
The US Trust team will be featuring the father-son combination of Marc and Grant Ganzi. Former 8-goaler Luis Escobar and California’s Jesse Bray will round out the US Trust roster.
Friday’s winners will face one another in Sunday’s final with the day’s losers playing each other in a consolation match.
Sunday’s games are scheduled to be played at 10AM and Noon.
