Proving that it can’t rain forever, the weather at the Bridgehampton has cleared, the fields have dried out and both semifinals of the 20-goal Monty Waterbury Cup have been scheduled to be played on Wednesday.

Equuleus (Joe DiMenna, Martin Pepa, Magoo Laprida and Mariano Gonzalez) will try to make it into this year’s final to defend their 2013 title in a 10:30AM game against KIG (Bash Kazi, Nacho Figueras, Guille Aguero and Tomas Garcia del Rio) at Equuleus Field.

Although KIG limps into semifinal play with a sub-par 1-2 record they forced Equuleus into overtime in their last meeting before falling in an exciting 13-12 sudden-death overtime game.

The second semifinal of the day will take place at the Bridgehampton Polo Club where CT Energia (Alessandro Bazzoni, Nick Manifold, Joao Paulo Ganon and Kris Kampsen) will attempt to turn the season around as they face the powerful and undefeated White Birch lineup (Matias Sosa, Hilario Ulloa, Mariano Aguerre and Peter Brant) in a 5PM contest.

“Weather permitting”, the final of the 2014 USPA Monty Waterbury Cup is scheduled to be played on Saturday, August 9th at 4PM.

As a bonus, both semifinals on Wednesday will be streamed live by PoloNOW as part of the Nespresso Summer Tour on www.chukker.tv.
