Congratulations – USPA NYTS All-Stars Detroit Polo Club!

Sunday July 21st, the Detroit Polo Club of Hartland, Michigan hosted a youth clinic in addition to their first ever National Youth Tournament Series qualifier. The day kicked off with instructor Josie Vidic and club manager Emmalyn Wheaton leading clinic participants through foot mallet exercises, time in the hitting cage, and mounted drills all aimed at improving technique, mechanics, and strategy.  After the clinic, fans and clinic participants gathered under the tent to watch team 7-Eleven(Morgan Jennings, Sarah Schulte, Jack Rupp, Keahna Depauw) and team Detroit (Alex Bolin, Courteney Hole, Turner Wheaton, Dani Harrison) battle it out in the Zone 3 NYTS tournament.

Both teams came out strong, but Team Detroit jumped out to the lead with early goals by Turner Wheaton. In the end, Detroit held off 7-Eleven with a score of 5-0.

All Stars of the tournament were: Turner Wheaton, Courteney Hole, Jack Rupp, and Keahna Depauw.

Best Playing Pony was awarded to “Dan” played by Keahna Depauw of Team 7-Eleven

A special thanks goes out to Jerry Hutcheson for announcing and scorekeeping, to Peter Cummings and Larry Penzien for umpiring, Norine Foley for sharing in flagging duties, and to Merle Jenkins for third manning and his continuous support of the sport.
