The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder
This team has been the doormat until Sun. the 14th. After 3 + weeks and then WOW the team came back to life. His name is Badiola. Not sure, but may mean “Bad” until it counts. As the 12-goal season winds down to the final weekend, it was definitely Lucchese and Juan Badiola who started to shine. It was not even the whole tournament. In game 1 it was Twin Palms burying them a week ago Friday. That is why we play polo. Nobody knows how it will end up. This brings up Rule 18 and that is the final word. Last Sunday Lucchese jumped on F&M in a big upset and just kept on rolling to the finals. They dropped Antelope Friday and head to the big one, where they will meet another first time finalist this year … La Herradura out of Monterrey Mx . This team includes the Fernandez’s and Gracida’s going thru their bracket without a hiccup. It looks to be a great ending to a fantastic 120goal season at SBPC.
The Intra Circuit Finals happen at 1 PM Sunday and the conso finals will be Antelope and the Hawks at 3 PM.
Friday results at SB Hawk Hill over Klentner Ranch Lucchese over Antelope La Herradura over Grants Farm/Manor Farmers&Merchants over Twin Palms
It has been a great 12 goal season, by far the best in a decade. I would like to thank the newcomers who made it this way. The Hawks and Phil Mataggart, John Muse and Lucchese new to the 12’s, Chris Maloney and Twin Palms, Alvaro and Rodrigo Fernandez and La Herradura. I think a big thanks is due to Justin Klentner and Henry Walker, who added two new teams to the mix this year to help make this a great success. There were also the arrival of some very talented young guns who played in the 12-goal season. They are a big part of the future. David Samiego, Charley Walker, Jake Klentner and Conrad Kissling to name a few.
Santa Barbara Polo goes dark for a week and then kicks back into action for the high-goal season. We are hoping for 6 teams, but will take more. If you want to have perfect weather, get out of the heat and rain and just load ’em up and head West. Phil Heatley will have a place for you and two months of fabulous Polo Fields and WEATHER.
Down South like San Diego Polo they also will be in action and it should be a wild weekend as well as they head to a big finals on Sunday at 1 and 3.
See ya Sunday.
