California Polo Club showcases a unique, family-friendly atmosphere in an effort to reacquaint community with America’s oldest team sport
Some of the most talented women in the sport of polo will converge in Los Angeles, California this weekend to compete in the National Arena Women’s Championship Tournament, hosted by the California Polo Club. The USPA national event will feature three flights – or sporting levels — with over 40 players competing.
In the top-flight competition, at 2-3 goal handicap, a few of polo’s most well known West Coast teams will play for the 2013 title honors. Also competing in the top-flight are fresh young polo players from colleges such as Cornell, UConn and Cal-Poly on the official USPA Intercollegiate team.
“We look forward to showcasing these talented players and horses,” said California Polo Club manager Max Duarte. “We encourage everyone in the Los Angeles area to come out and enjoy the action and ambiance polo has to offer.”
Attendance to the event is free and open to the public. Semifinals are on Friday afternoon at 2 PM; consolation matches start Saturday at 10 AM, followed by a non-WCT sanctioned student flight at 2 PM. The national arena WCT finals start at 3 PM, followed by awards and the after party at 7 PM.
