The Polo Report by Steve Crowder – It was as expected, a wild-wooly and quite noisy weekend. After the game on Sunday it was worse. Everyone saying “I’m in.” In a well-written rule, a bit different than past years, it came to a final vote I think as its only Sunday night.
Game 1: Winless Windsor fired from the blocks and defeated Duende with the Governor (Pat Nesbitt) watching from the sidelines with his leg downtown (it should be elevated to heal). Juan Jo (Juan Jose Gonzalez) replaced Pat for the game and did a very good job of hustling. He scored a big goal and did very well. Windsor defeated Duendee to get to 3 and 3. They really have not been winless as they beat Grant’s Farm/Klentner twice and Duende, but both advanced to 3 and 3.
Game 2 was Mansour (2 and 3) and Jimmy Choo who was just out there as they are 5 and 0 and waiting. They came fire-up from Mansour and got a badly needed win as well. So Mansour is also 3 & 3.
Then it was at 3 pm when two teams one 3 and 2 and the other team 2 and 3. That would be Audi and Grant’s Farm. It was a big one and the scenarios are out of reach before the game. If this team wins it will be this . . . If that team wins it will be that . . . .
The game went into overtime. It was not a bad game, but the field was tuff for both teams and the ball was not always moving their way. Juan Bollini missed a two footer in the overtime chukker and “oh my” was the crowds’ squeal. Jeff Blake and Mariano Gonzalez combined their efforts for a big play and then a win for Grant’s Farm/Klentner. Now they go to 3 and 3 as well. Audi drops to 3 and 3 too. Now there are five teams with a 3 and 3 record, one team with a 5 and 1 record and one team with a 1 and 5 record. Now the fun begins. In a new way to handle this type is situation its winner Jimmy Choo on to finals. Antelope is out at 1 and 5. Now its only the teams who are tied and the win/ loss between teams tied. So Grants Farm is 3 and 1 in this, so they go on. Mansour goes out. Now its 3 teams tied and Duende + 2, WC + 2, and Audi 0. Duende goes on to the semis. Then a two- way tie and Audi beat Windsor Capital in overtime last week, so Audi goes to the semis. So the semis are set for Thursday at 11 am. In the Santa Barbara Cup Windsor plays Antelope. In the PCO its Jimmy Choo vs. Audi and Duende vs. Grant’s Farm/Klentner.
In San Diego it was friendly in the 10-goal, but full bore in the 4-goal, so I will get results as soon as I can. See ya.
