The America Cup is rolling right along in the heat of SB it was 88 yesterday and humid but back to the 70’s today yesterday we had a very good game between RH and Lucchese and it went down to the wire with less than 20 seconds to go Luc. had a chance to tie but the call was WIDE on a 60 about 3 of them in last 2 chukkars but it sends Big Ben to the finals and makes Luc. have to try again tomorrow as they take on Klentner Ranch in a mini semis not sure why they call it a mini because it is to get to the big one anyway . A very tough game on Wed may set up KR well as they had a much easier game but you never know as Horses in this weather usually recover fast but got a shock last couple of days with the Temp going a bit wild here . In the 8 goal it is FMB with outstanding play by Charlie Walker sending them by Antelope today as two young guns took each other on Grant Palmer who is playing outstanding but could not match Charlie today as he was a bad ass Walker all day . Some sad news as well Julio Arellano was injured badly last week in Sheridan just riding and sounds like was a nasty concussion at the best, so that is not good at all. Have not heard today how it is going but my hopes are all turns out well as Megan has had enough of this in her short life and has 3 super kids playing as well and an amazing Daughter named HOPE who may well be the next Sunny Hale in America. Tribute was paid in SB yesterday for a Avid Polo fan named Doug Redder who was a young man less than 60 and was known by nearly ever Polo player who came to SB over the last two decades . So long Doug you were a stud in the stands always and knew the game.
Across the pond a while ago a very popular man and a hell of a Patron received a very Big Honor and went into the Polo Hall of Fame and he was a Giant and deserved it . Not many now know him but in his days from the 80’s to early 2000’s was a master in the UK his name is David Jamison until just recently I had never met anyone so determined to play Polo. I am working for a Lady the same now named Sarah and she has the same drive and almost the same travel time. Back then DJ would take the train after work from London to Hazlemere and I would pick him up from Monday to Friday drive straight to stable and ride till dark about 9 pm there and eat dinner and drink wine till sleep and start all over tomorrow the one thing I never knew is how he got back to London ever morning but he did. DJ is a big fellow and the biggest battle was he was left handed but no worry and it is easy to see why the UK ruled the World for so long , there is no NO just do it. I do not care if it was raining when he got to Hazllemere we were riding as soon as we got to stable and if it was raining until 9 pm so be it, he never stopped. David went on to get to 3 or 4 goals won 6 or 7 British Opens with the likes of Owen Rhinehart and Carlos Gracida and usually did it with a 2 Patron team usually Anthony Embricos . He is an amazing man and deserved his Glory to the Hall of Fame. If you ever get to the UK check out Westerly Stud that’s him. Can you imagine a two Patron team winning any of the Major opens ? This is how it is done . They played Polo and you rarely said leave IT or TAKE THE MAN and LEAVE ITTTTTTTT.. That’s why back then it cost 250 bucks for each hit now its thousands for each ball you get to swing at and they probably said leave it anyway Like Javier T says bring it back to six horses per game and we will have 10 times as many Patrons and polo playing Patrons .. Also DJ has a Daughter who can do amazing Portraits of People WELL DONE MR JAMISON . Thanks for the Memories
see ya @ POLO
