The Polo Report
by Steve Crowder
The PCO was underway today and an amazing day for polo. It was a temperate 72 degrees with full sun and a light breeze. Polo, however, was a bit hotter. ERG in the first game was defintiley showing Lucchesse who really is boss. They stepped out to a big lead with the Mighty Merlos Combo. They had a gift in the 5th as two players were suspended for the balance of the game. SW and JH got into a spat which was no big deal, but SW is 0 and JH is 7 so a plus 6 + already in the lead big not a great idea no matter what. Erg won.
Game 2
Was a Wildcat adventure as the Cats were with out a win this summer, but showed it is not over yet as they blew by a very tough F&M team today. They showed great form with Santi Chavanne and Joe Stuart. They got a lot of help from patron Ryan Gilbertson in his first year at this level. Gilbertson is catching on fast. The second round of the PCO is this Sunday with two games @ 1 PM and 3 PM. Come on out and enjoy the last two weekends of it all. There is no rain in the forecast.
Halfway around the planet it was Valiente and Adolfo Cambiaso along with Big Bob J. and Santi Torres capturing the Silver Cup in Sotogrande Spain. They are headed in the right direction in the Gold Cup, where twelve 20-goal teams are competing for the three high-goal tournaments at the Santa Maria Polo Club.
Other news THE FACE OF POLO IS ON HIS WAY … NACHO is due back in Ca. doing two big events one @ Will Rogers and a new one at St. Regis in Santa Rosa in Sept.
see ya.
