Indio, CA (December 29, 2008) – With the rain finished and the weather starting to warm up somewhat, polo was on again at the Eldorado Polo Club with the Jackson Hole Horse Emporium Holiday Cup.
World Gym: Dan Walker, Matthew Walker, Wiley Uretz and Claudia Uretz.
Three teams entered the two day six goal event and played an abreviated format – not a round robim – that saw half games played on Saturday with the remainder completed on Sunday.
With help from Danny and Matthew Walker, Wiley and Claudia Uretz’s World Gym foursome came out on top after a threeway tie at 1 – 1 needed a net goal tie-breaker to decide the winner. After defeating Chuck Stanislawski’s White Star by a score of 9 – 5 it looked as if the Walker/Uritz combination would be a lock to win both of their games. Not so, as Bill Garlock’s Parklane group stopped them by a score of 7 – 6. Surprising as Parklane lost to White Star by a 7 – 5 count. In the end, the workout people had 3 net goals to claim the title.
Wiley Uretz and Alvaro Tadeo were the high scorers of the weekend with eight goals each.
