On a beautiful May 19th, Sunday morning in Aiken, South Carolina, polo legends Adam Snow and Owen Rinehart offered 8 lucky Young Polo Outreach players trade secrets for more effective swings. “Bite your shirt”, says Owen. In order to remind students to keep their heads down during the off side near shot, Owen introduces the trick of biting ones shirt collar. It proves effective for Jeff Shuler, a talented Aiken local player participating in the morning’s clinic.
“Forward and back with your arm for that back shot, not up and down” stated Adam when it came time to help his group with efficiency at the back swing. Tom Huber of Baltimore, MD, Madeline Cobb a recent graduate of Cal Poly, Jim Wright from Menlo, CA, Jeff Shuler an Aiken resident, J. Paul Meyer from Atlanta, GA, USPA RPC intern Megan Flynn, USPA Jr Polo instructor Liz Holson and the youngest of the group, Malia Bryan also from Aiken all rode over from the Team USPA barn to Adam’s field to listen to sage advice on the mechanics of their swings and left a little wiser thanks to the generosity of Adam Snow and Owen Rinehart’s valuable time.
