It was a wonderful day in Santa Barbara about 70 degrees and a wide blue sky why everybody in Polo does not play here from July to Oct. I do not know why. The game had a lot of meaning the last 3 teams to win the PCO were Grants Farm and Lucchese it was a bit of a weak season but it had 4 very good teams so that made it pretty good . THE GAME WAS AMAZING
not for me in the end but for the sport Lucchese was the team coming in trying to win 3 in a row which in recent history has never been done and I am not recent I think I have been here well since 75 and that has a 19 in front of it. Grants Farm came out early and won the first by a score of 3 to 2 and all goals were by penalties but very good # 4 ‘s by Jeff Hall and Adolpho did the same making 1 from the 60 yard line the second was the same as they traded position and Luc. won the chukkar by 1 at 3 to 2 so a tie going into the 3 rd the 3rd was a very strong chukkar for GF but they never got away it was still Luc. coming back and they ended up at the 1/2 by 1 8 to 7 in favor of GF not a comfortable lead with this team . So at 1/2 time we came up with some ideas and some motivation and set sail and the 4th was all farming and it was a big run by all of GF as they won the chukkar 6 to 1 to be up by 6 and it looked so good but there are 14 minutes to go and that is not good and despite the fact we are in control we all know he is not only 10 goals it is Cambiaso and well we know he is just not going to go away and he knows it as well, Santi Torres and Andres are playing well and Patron John Muse is creating his usual disciplined havoc and being at the right spot most of the time . Well itis showtime and AC knows what he has to do and as bad luck would have it for us he does it , I knew we were not in the Open anyway as there was too much time left and it starts ticking up by 6 well they score quick up by 5 an burn another up by 4 well we just have to stop them but then it is by 3 and panic sets in but we only have 1 chukkar to go : Three is good but I have always been ok with being 3 goals down going into the sixth it is mental you feel safe they know what they have to do and are often unafraid and you know AC is not even going to think this is a problem and as you might expect it was not he drilled us and actually went out front and we had the good fortune to equal him and Luc. before the bell rang and it was OT and we had a little advantage we had the good side and were a 100 yards closer to goal but one mistake is his gain and it was today a bad shot and an amazing anticipation that he has and that 100 yard advantage was just good viewing for the crowd . It was over and John Muse had done what may have never been done before win 3 Opens in a row. I am not sure about the bee sting but it worked as he knows the game better than anyone else and there are several 10 goalers but there is only 1 CAMBIASO AND AGAIN TODAY WE SEEN IT ; Well done LUCHESSE I did not like it but you deserved it .
