The Polo Report

…But it was a Dogs day and the underdogs forgot they come from the Urban area. Yes… Urban Dog came into a big day as the underdogs, but someone forgot to tell them as Kim Garsed, a tall lovely, quiet Woman, always has something else on her mind. It is usually the unexpected and the big game was the same as it was a fact. Lampire Labs and their big guns were here to lay waste to the urban people as they brought in the big sticks from around the country. Lampire consisted of Sunny Hale, the best female player in the World from Florida, Erika Gandomacar-Sachs from the capital of Colorado, Lady Dawn Jones who hails from Texas (who also has too many trophies to carry home this winter all championship titles), and Susan Guggenheim the Team Captain. However, this tournament was not meant to be another trophy as the Dawgs had a lot of bite despite Kim’s quiet bark. Her local gals were not sitting down for the big sticks. They were eliminating them and they figured there was no sense in sending the Trophy anywhere else. Kim had a little local fire power in Abby Riggs and the flying Canook called Dayelle Fargey. They were paired with one French Person, who likes to win, Caroline Anier. In a match with speed, that would scare many men away, they let it fly. The dogs, however, were not in the mood for an afternoon nap and they carried the Desert Flag all the way to the Trophy table and the Debi Dollar Trophy will now be in the Doghouse for the next 12 months. And yes it is an URBAN DOGHOUSE.
CONGRATULATIONS TO URBAN DOG :
KIM GARSED CAPTAIN
ABBY RIGGS
DAYELLE FARGEY
CAROLINE ANIER
In the B Flight it was Arbonne International getting their way with Theresa Volmer leading the charge. Arbonne defeated Hanalei Bay to win the trophy. Arbonne Team: Therese Volmer, Kim Kelly , Cybel Jordan and Roxy Keyfauver.
Women’s Polo is without a doubt the one area of polo that is defintley a growth area. Sunny Hale has done an unbeliveable job of organizing this group to where they are today. She did it in about 3 years. The WCT (W omen’s Championship Polo Tournament ) is Internationally renowned on several continents and they only play W omen’s Polo … no men allowed. They can play Men’s polo, but not the other way around. Sounds like a Democracy to me. It is very popular here in the US as well.
Florida News … Down South it was the Hawks of Julian Mannix destroying the return of Piaget back to high-goal polo. Julian was also the game MVP. They won by many and they head to round two in a big hurry looking for some competition. King George and Adolfo Cambiaso stayed on course to destroy anyone in their way as they slapped Audi around for the second week in a row. The last 2 champions of the U.S. Open have met twice and it has been a 1 way show.
HEY IN CASE YOU DO NOT KNOW …. Wild Bill Freeman is back in town (Palm Desert, CA). And …. NO LADIES …. he is still married. Bill is here to celebrate his big 40 Birthday. He is also here to help a friend who is putting on an art show Thursday night (March 11th 2010) right here on El Paseo in Palm Desert. Here is a link to the info. about the Gallery Show … you are all invited to come see some amazing art including a polo series. If Wild Bill is there … how could you not want to be there as well. Hope to see you all there.
see ya at POLO
Crowder my dear……
First of all Urban dog played 1 game to win and won by a coin toss or something. They are a great team for sure and may have won with out the toss. However you did not mention our darling Susie Guggenheim who sponsored the other team and paid just as much if not more than Kim Garsed but gets no credit. If she had not done that there would have not been an A flight but since she did not win the tie breaker thing she gets no press but deserves loads of credit as well!!!! I know this just slipped your mind so thought I would help you thank all people who truly deserve it!
Secondly Tanya Paneno won the C flight not the B flight
The B flight was won by Arbonne with Terese Volmer, Cybelle,Kim and Roxy
After the game on Friday Urban Dog was ahead 8 – 6.
Unfortunately, the game on Sunday was rained out and it was sure to be a great matchup considering the action in Friday’s game.
The USPA was consulted as to how to handle the situation and there was no precedent for the circumstance at hand.
The USPA suggested it be decided by the tournament committee.
A “coin toss” or even a shoot out were not warranted as Urban Dog had the lead by two goals going into Sunday’s game.
The tournament committee awarded Urban Dog the win.
